Getting Ready!

The team is getting ready to go to Ethiopia with Children’s Hope Chest to see how God might use the people of NewDay Covenant to partner with an orphanage there.

Please pray for Emily Dirks, Andrea Thomas, Ross Van Natta and John DuBall as they make preparations to travel overseas. Pray for the children they will encounter and that the time spent with them will be the start of exciting things to come!

If you would like to help defray the team’s costs you may do so by writing a check to NewDay Covenant Church and indicating it should be used for the Ethiopia Trip in the memo line.

The team will also take with them supplies for the children. You may bring donations to our Worship Gathering at the Y on Sunday mornings or drop off items at the NewDay office on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Items such as crayons, coloring books, jump ropes, activities, etc.

Sunday, May 6, 2012 was Confirmation Sunday. We heard powerful testimony from 8th grade confirmand Nathan Peterson. Pastor John followed with a brief devotional based on 2 Peter 1:3-11

I looked at my calendar yesterday and instantly became overwhelmed. “What was I thinking trying to pack my schedule this full?!” I chided myself. My next reaction was one of worry that quickly begin it’s pedal-to-the-metal merge onto the freeway of anxiety.

Do you ever feel that way? I began to look for an exit ramp off the frenetic mindset that was beginning to develop. I found one in Jesus reminder from Matthew 6… “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”

Yep… time to refocus on the moment and truly live in it. I hope you can do the same!
