Enjoy Eating Together
Matthew 9:9-13
9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Have you ever noticed how often Jesus went to someone's home to have a meal with them?
There is something that happens when you sit down together and enjoy a meal or cup of coffee together. I like what one of my friends said about this...
"Sitting down with another person to partake of food or beverage makes me feel valued. It is my hope that the other person feels the same way. I think it might be because it makes you stop and enjoy a shared moment together."
That shared moment where you are enjoying this time together may be more valuable than you ever realized. When Jesus talks about joining him in the great feast we will share with him someday, it is because of how he sees us and wants us to be blessed by him. We get to do the same thing many times in our lives. I invite you to read Matthew 9:9-13 in preparation for Sunday.
Grateful to walk this journey with you,
Pastor John
