Seeing God At Work

John 9:1-5

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Do to technical problems this Sunday’s video is unable to be posted on our website. However, it can be viewed on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/NewDayCovenantChurch

NewDay Friends,

I had just finished cleaning out the gutters and was sitting on the roof of my home on Northern Heights Drive. Our home is located on the third highest hill in Rochester and I’m able to look out over the city from the position I was in. I found myself asking God this question: “Lord, what do you have in store for this city?” Then I just sat and listened and waited. It was that kind of beautiful day I was in no hurry and just wanted to enjoy this moment with our Lord Jesus. I felt a sense of deep peace wash over me because I was just resting in Him. Before I left the roof I said to Him, “help me to see what you see today.”

That phrase, “help me to see what you see”, has been a consistent request from that time forward. It is something that I want all of us who are connected to NewDay to ask on a regular basis. During this time of discerning God’s next steps that we will be taking together, we want to continue the pattern of depending on Him more than our own instincts of what we should do. I like what Oswald Chambers said in my devotional reading from “My Utmost For His Highest”…

“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when there's nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.

Most of us would prefer, however, to spend our time doing something that will get immediate results. We don't want to wait for God to resolve matters in His good time because His idea of 'good time' is seldom in sync with ours.”

This Sunday we are going to spend some time praying as we seek our Lord together! I’ll also share with you some of the insights and passion God has given me for this time.

Grateful to journey together with you,
Pastor John
