Celebrating What Jesus Did For Us!

Colossians 1:13-20

13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstbornfrom among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

NewDay Friends,
Celebrating What Jesus Did For Us!

I was given a surprise party for my 40th Birthday a few years ago. I was blindfolded and then driven around town in a limousine so I would become disoriented and not know where I was at. When I finally arrived everything was strangely quiet as my wife led me down a set of steps and into a room. I could not see a thing. She then stopped and asked, “Are you ready?”
“Ready for what?” I replied.
“Let me show you!” she said.

With that she took off my blindfold and everyone yelled, “Surprise! Happy Birthday!” I looked around at the room full of people smiling and saw friends and family from far and near who had come to make this birthday very special. Toward the middle of that amazing time one of my friends came over and said, “This day we have come to celebrate you. I want to thank you for being a true friend!” I was moved to tears by the genuine care I felt by those around me that day.

I have thought of that experience many times just before we begin our worship service together.
“Jesus… we have come here to celebrate you! We want to thank you for being a true friend!”
I picture the smile on his face as everyone is looking to him to express their joy in being a part of His life.
Worship becomes our expression of the amazing relationship we have with the one who loves us most!

Is this your experience in worshiping the Lord of all?

This Sunday is Palm Sunday and we get to celebration all who Jesus is to us! Come with expectation, with anticipation, with a real desire to pour out a heart of gratitude to Him!

I’m looking forward to this time together with you,
Pastor John
