The First Star Trek
Matthew 2:1-12
2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:
6 “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will shepherd my people Israel.’”
7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”
9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

Happy New Year NewDay!
Maybe you are someone who makes/made a 'New Year's Resolution? These are quite popular I hear. (haha) And, seem to be on our minds in one way or another as the old year comes to an end, and the new one is on the brink. Usually, Resolutions are associated with improving ourselves in one way or another, and developing new or breaking old habits. They relate to us practicing determination and increasing positive change.
I have to say mine are rather predictable: exercise more, work on getting up earlier in the morning, going to bed earlier at night. And, each year, at the top of the list is read my Bible more, and spend more time with God. All of these goals become more realized through regular habits and consistency. That seems to be my growth are, and one I am seeking after always.
What are your goals and resolutions? If you're interested, please watch the short video by Craig Groeschel, pastor of LifeChurch, that hopefully will inspire some new habits for you.

I wanted to share some updates about what we are going to be doing this year on Sunday mornings, and in the in-betweens! They align with habits and our habits of worship, spending time together in God's Word both on Sunday and during the week.
We will be working our way through the 'Red Book,' a lectionary cycle (set readings throughout the BIble) prayer and devotional. If you didn't get one this past Sunday, they will be available the next couple of Sundays.
Pastors Steve, Zach and myself will be preaching from the Lectionary texts each week, and Derek will be planning worship through prayer and song with the guidance of these texts. Our prayer is for us to grow together during the week, and Sundays, as we spending time with the Lord alone and in Community together.
