Letting Go Of Old Hope

Jeremiah 33:14-16

14 “‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah.

15 “‘In those days and at that time
    I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line;
he will do what is just and right in the land.
16 In those days Judah will be saved
and Jerusalem will live in safety.
This is the name by which it will be called:
    The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’

Tomorrow we celebrate Thanksgiving as a nation. We get to eat a good meal, enjoy time with others, and hopefully get a day off! As Christians, we can take time to pause, and intentionally express gratitude to God for His presence, His love and all He gives to us. Last Sunday we spent time exploring the concept of Gratitude, and considered memories that are rooted in Gratitude.
I wanted to follow up with some prompts for you to use to reflect on areas of your life to extend what we worked on as a church last Sunday.

Gratitude for my family: LORD, I am grateful for my family. I give you thanks for…
Gratitude for my friends, LORD. You have blessed me so much, and I acknowledge the blessing of their presence in my life. My gratitude is for…
LORD, you have given me food, shelter and what I need for each day. I am mindful of: and I praise You for…
LORD, for saving me, I give you thanks for:
I praise You for:
You saved me from:
Since I have known you LORD, I have gratitude for...
For NewDay, LORD, I praise You for your goodness and help, especially:

May you be filled with joy and gratitude this week especially.
See you Sunday, as we begin the rich season of Advent, looking backward with gratitude for Jesus' first coming, and looking forward with anticipation and Hope for His return.

In Christ,
Pastor Kari
